The Mindprint DTC (Dual Tube Channel) is a high-end, two-channel analog channel strip introduced in the early 2000s. It combines microphone preamplification, equalization, and dynamics processing, making it a versatile tool for both recording and mastering applications. The DTC is renowned for its pristine audio quality and comprehensive feature set, appealing to professional audio engineers and recording enthusiasts.
Key Features
- Microphone Preamplifiers: Equipped with high-quality mic preamps featuring custom transformers, the DTC offers a wide bandwidth and low noise floor, ensuring transparent and detailed sound reproduction. The preamps can handle a maximum input of +30dBu with the 20dB pad engaged, and boast an equivalent input noise (EIN) of -131dB, providing ample headroom and clarity.
- Equalization: The unit features a four-band fully parametric equalizer with adjustable high-cut and low-cut filters. Each band operates in parallel, allowing for precise tonal shaping without phase issues. This design facilitates detailed and musical EQ adjustments suitable for a variety of sources.
- Dynamics Processing: The DTC includes a compressor/limiter section that utilizes an opto-coupler and a pair of ECC83 (12AX7) tubes, providing smooth and musical dynamic control. The "Adaptive Response" feature adjusts the attack and release times based on the input signal, ensuring natural compression characteristics.
- Optional Digital I/O: An optional DI-Mod 24/96 high-resolution A-D/D-A converter module is available, offering 24-bit/96kHz digital input and output via AES/EBU, S/PDIF, and ADAT formats. This addition allows the DTC to serve as a high-quality front end for digital workstations or as a mastering processor, facilitating seamless integration into digital setups. *Mod already done.
